Welcome to the collection of works by Joshua
Jonathan Almblad, painter, glass worker, and poet. Enter into a world within,
a kingdom, a center of creativity which flows through his hands, brushes,
and pen. Reading these poems (Ideas) and viewing his paintings (Images)
one must do so at the risk of challenging some traditional concepts and
doctrines.
Many expose and question various aspects of
life while others soothe the conflicts and tensions which rage through
one's day. Paintings bright and bold, writings revealing and raw act as
a reflector into those who confront them communicating or challenging one
to think, to believe, or to act.
Tools for Jonathan's oil and acrylic works
are his hands primarily while brushes bring desired contrasts and application
of large areas of paint. Before him a blank canvas, then his hands following
the inner inspirations and tensions move through the colors and layers
of paint creating images at first simple, then more complex and the vision
develops ending with clarification through a poem. For as in gardening
first the seed needs to be buried out of which comes the clear vision,
so his images and ideas after cultivating the soil of his soul comes forth
as fruit.
Joshua Jonathan pursues life as a renaissance
man of sorts; seeking the fullness of life through painting and writing
and conversation, simply and solely desiring to seek first the Kingdom
of God through service to those with whom he crosses paths.
